Men's Golf | Apr 26 | Men's Golf To Compete For NEC Championship This Weekend Story Links Championship Central Live Results BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- LIU Brooklyn Men's Golf will head to Florida this weekend to take part in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships, which will take place from April 28-30 in Daytona Beach. The three round event will be played at the LPGA International - Hills Course. LIU AT THE 2016 CHAMPIONSHIPS At last season's championship tournament, the Blackbirds finished in a tie for seventh place after recording a three-round score of 38-over 902 (298-296-308). LIU's top performers included then-junior Rodrigo Munoz and newcomer Daniel Reale. Munoz led LIU's group by shooting an 8-over 224 (73-75-76) and tying for 17th place. Reale tied for 20th place as a freshman, ending one stroke behind Munoz (9-over 225; 76-69-80) and carding one of only six scores in the 60s during the tournament. TEAM OUTLOOK All six members of the Blackbird team have posted averages between 76 and 81. Senior Jake Spearpoint paces the team with a 76.83 stroke average and one of the team's two season-low rounds of 69 (second round, Binghamton). CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT The NEC Championships are a three-day, 54-hole event. Team scores are calculated by adding a team's four lowest scores from each day. The top ten individual finishers will be named to the NEC All-Tournament team. LIU will be looking to add to its championship totals: one team title in 2004 and three individual medalists, the last coming in 2015 by George Williams.
