DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --- The LIU Brooklyn men's golf team wrapped up the 2017 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships Sunday afternoon with a sixth place showing, shooting a combined 72-over 936 (312-311-313) over the three-day event at LPGA International's Hills Course.
Leading the way for the Blackbirds was sophomore Daniel Reale, who tied for 13th place overall with his tournament total of 13-over 299 (70-80-79) and bested his previous season best of T-17 at the VGA/UConn Invitational. Reale's showing also secured a second top-20 performance in as many NEC Championships for the Australian native (20th in 2016).
Senior Rodrigo Munoz shot a 19-over 235 (82-76-77) to take sole possession of 25th place while sophomore George Helsby (77-78-81=236 / +20), junior Kyle Maihi (83-77-80=240 / +24), and senior Jake Spearpoint (86-82-77=245 / +29) ended NECs in 26th (tied), 33rd, and 35th (tied) respectively.
