BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team will host two non-league opponents on LIU Field this weekend, taking on Siena, Friday, September 22 at 6 p.m., before taking on Howard, Sunday, September 24 at 2:30 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team fell to Rider on the road Saturday afternoon in double overtime, 2-1. The Blackbirds evened up the game in the second half to force the extra time, but a free kick in the second overtime period would end the game in favor of the home team. Junior Rasmus Hansen had the goal for the Blackbirds in the loss.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
Siena comes into Friday's game with a 1-3-3 overall record. The Saints have tied UC Santa Barbara, George Mason and Holy Cross, and have two losses in OT, to Army and Cal State Northridge. The lone win for Siena was a double overtime win against Sacred Heart last week. Last year, Siena beat the Blackbirds, 4-1.
Senior forward Alexander Tejera is the team's leading goal scorer with three, while freshman forward Alejandro Riquelme has two goals so far. Senior goalie Aleks Radosavljevic had an .822 save percentage, with two shutouts this season.
SCOUTING THE BISON
Howard is 1-7 this season, having fallen to two Northeast Conference teams so far, SFBK (1-0) and CCSU (3-1). They're coming off their first win of the season, a 2-1 victory on the road against Virginia Military Institute.
The Bison are always a battle for the Blackbirds. Over the last two seasons, the two teams have tied twice, with both contests going to double overtime.
