PISCATAWAY, N.J. --- The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team opened its 2017 fall schedule by competing in the first rounds of the Rutgers University Women's Invitational on Saturday.
The Blackbirds ended the first day in ninth place out of 11 teams with a combined score of 80-over 656, shooting 330 and 326 over 36 holes. Sophomore
Carolina Ronchel led the team as the second-year player finished tied for seventh place overall with a 9-over 153 (79-74).
Three other players joined Ronchel in the top 50 of the individual standings - senior
Lauren Rutherglen tied for 37th at 20-over 164 (79-85), sophomore
Aida Gonzalez finished tied for 46th at 25-over 169 (83-86), and junior
Emma Paschal tied for 50th with a 27-over 171 (89-82). Sophomore Rebecca Pardos rounded out LIU's scoring group after tying for 56th at 32-over 176 (91-85).
Junior
Sara Ciliberto competed as an individual and placed in a tie with Pardos for 56th (87-89).
Final round action is slated to began tomorrow (September 10) at 11 a.m.
