BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team will host a rematch with Central Connecticut State, Saturday, January 27 in the Steinberg Wellness Center. Tip off, as a part of a doubleheader with the women's team, is slated for 4:30 p.m. The Blackbirds will also honor the LIU Brooklyn Athletics Hall of Fame 2018 inductees at a ceremony during the halftime break. Men's basketball alums Mike Campbell and Charles Jones, along with Dawn Coleman (women's basketball), Walter Bustamante (men's soccer) and Martina Wagner (volleyball), will all receive their Hall of Fame jackets and plaques at the ceremony.

- LIU surged from a 13-point deficit to cut the lead to just two points with 37 seconds left Thursday night in Knott Arena, but Mount St. Mary's was able to hold on to take the win, 86-80. The Blackbirds were led by senior Joel Hernandez's career-high 29 points, while junior Raiquan Clark had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and freshman Eral Penn added 10 points and seven rebounds in the late game push.
- The Blackbirds faced off with CCSU just one week ago, with the Blue Devils taking the 72-63 win. The loss snapped a three-game win streak at the time for LIU.
- The Blackbirds were led by sophomore Jashaun Agosto, who tied his career high with 22 points in the game; the point guard went 7-for-14 from the field, including 4-for-8 from three-point range to lead all players in scoring.
- The contest was close throughout, and in the final 78 seconds of the game, the Blue Devils would put together a 9-0 run to put the game out of reach for LIU. Six of those points came from the free throw line, where CCSU went 6-for-8 in the last minute of play. Sophomore Julian Batts made a layup with 34 seconds left and then drained a three on the next play for the Blackbirds to cut it back down to six points, but CCSU had already pulled away and stayed there, taking the win by a final score of 72-63.
- CCSU is now 12-10 on the season, and 5-4 in the NEC, having won the last four games straight. They beat Bryant Thursday, 80-74.
