STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The LIU Brooklyn swim team fell to Northeast Conference rival Wagner College, 150-90 on Saturday in dual meet action at the Seahawks' Spiro Sports Center in Staten Island, N.Y. The Blackbirds won two of the fourteen events on the schedule against the Seahawks.
QUICK LAPS
- LIU opened the meet with a strong second-place performance in the 400 medley relay behind the foursome of Amanda Peren, Milly Furneaux, Noemie Lacroix-Moreau and Briana Vega in 3:59.13, only 0.17 off the top team.
- In the final relay of the meet, the team of Mads Carrigan, Lacroix-Moreau, Vega and Jeanne Touchette-McGowan also slotted second in 1:40.59.
- Individually, Peren won the 100 backstroke (58.74)., and took second in the 200 individual medley (2:14.15).
- Vega won the 50 freestyle in 24.41, beating Wagner's top two sprinters by over 0.4 seconds.
- Touchette-McGowan finished in the runner-up spot in a pair of events, the 200 freestyle (1:57.51) and 200 backstroke (2:07.90).
- Lacroix-Moreau also picked up second in the 100 butterfly (1:01.52).
- Freshman Avery Vernon earned the second spot in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.84) and classmate Jodi Hawki earned her second place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:54.71).
HOME FINALE
- The Blackbirds will close out the regular season against defending NEC champion Central Connecticut State, with the Blue Devils making their first-ever visit to the Steinberg Wellness Center, Saturday, February 3 for a 12:00 p.m. meet.
