BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn men's soccer senior Rasmus Hansen was named to the Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team for District 1, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday afternoon.
Hansen, a forward from Greve, Denmark, holds a 3.60 GPA in Marketing, Management and Finance. He has started and played in all 17 games for the Blackbirds, and ranks third on the team in points, with five goals and one assist so far this season. Last year's Northeast Conference Player of the Year, he was named first team All-NEC for the fourth year in a row at last night's NEC banquet. In his career, Hansen has also been named to the NEC's Fall Academic Honor Roll twice.
He becomes the first Blackbird to earn All-District honors since Brice Merwine was named CoSIDA All-District and an Academic All-American in 2014.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I,NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if necessary) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
