Final Results
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn women's track & field team finished the calendar year at the Seahawk Invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
The Blackbirds ran well in the 4x400 relay event, claiming the top two times in the field. The group of junior Angeli Andre, sophomores Tara Hernandez and Toni Glatz with freshman Ekenedilichukwu Christine Onyech anchoring crossed the finish line with a time of 3:53.90. LIU's second group of freshman Jasmine Douglas Grant, sophomore Ashley Blackwell and seniors Michala Webster and Deja Johnson finished with a time of 3:59.24.
Webster tied her personal best in the 60 meter sprint with a time of 7.99 to finish third among the field. Stephanie Esogenwune finished in sixth with a time of 8.29. Andre was LIU's top finisher in the 400 meter event with a personal-best time of 59.34 for seventh overall in the race. Onyech ran a 1:19.70 in her first 500 meter event, good for the ninth best mark in the field.
In the women's shot put event, junior Taylor Parker recorded her second straight win with a throw of 14.02 meters. Tichina Davis recorded a personal best in the weight-throw event with a throw of 12.65 meters.
LIU is back in action in the new year with the Wagner College Invitational on January 4 at Ocean Breeze.
