Track Shines At Metro Championships and Villanova

  • The LIU women earned a pair of silver medals - one individual and one relay. Junior Eugenie Hue finished the 500 meters in 1:13.70, good enough to make her the top NEC runner in that event. She also currently holds the top mark in the league in the 400 meters. Hue joined fellow juniors Shantae McDonald & Zaahira Deboise and freshman Toni Glatz as the quartet ran an NEC-best 3:48.38 in the 4x400. Both times secured IC4A/ECAC qualifying times for the Blackbirds.
  • LIU also secured three other top-10 efforts: an eighth place run in the 400 by Deboise (59.92) and two ninth-place finishes from sophomore Angeli Andre (25.67 in the 200 meters) and the Blackbirds' Distance Medley Relay group of graduate Sarah Northup, freshman Jody Garraway, senior Esther Jean-Louis, and freshman Alyssa Frausto (13:41.08).
  • Each of the Blackbird men's six finals resulted in a top-10 performance by its top finisher. Sophomore Braylon Wilkerson's second-place run in the 400 meters was the best on the LIU side as he clocked in at 48.50, good enough to lead the league in the event.
  • The 4x400 Relay team of senior Airrin Davis, sophomore Kwesi Henderson, freshman Alban Lefeuvre, and sophomore Sean Sinclair ended their final in third place after a time of 3:22.26.
  • Sophomore Corey Butcher was fourth in two events, the 60 meters (7.10) and the 200 meters (22.46).
  • Sophomore Colin Sewell was ninth in the 500 meters with a mark of 1:07.69 and Davis was tenth in the 800 meters after he ran a 1:58.96.
