EMMITSBURG, Md. -- The LIU Brooklyn Women's Outdoor Track & Field team scored points in four of the six completed events on the opening day at the Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Led by sophomores Angeli Andre (high jump) and Taylor Parker (shot put), the Blackbirds currently stand in fifth place with 26 points as they prepare to pounce on day two at Mount St. Mary's.
In field events, four Blackbirds scored 20 of the team's 26 points on day one. They are:
Also, the Blackbirds took home a bronze medal in the only scoring relay on the day, the 4x800 meter relay, in the team's first time racing the event this season. A team of freshman Tara Hernandez ran the leadoff leg, followed by juniors Eugenie Hue and Zaahira Deboise and their classmate Cayla Coleman running the anchor leg, came in at 9:29.51 for third place.

Besides the individual running events, LIU will look forward to the triple jump and the two sprint relays, the 4x100 and 4x400 Meters, where the Blackbirds have the top seeded time in each event, as they look to have a super Sunday at the NEC Championships.
