Women's Track & Field Participates In Two Meets Saturday

NEW YORK, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn women's track & field team had a busy Saturday afternoon competing at both the Great Dane Classic and Lions Indoor Invitational in the metropolitan area.

Reigning NEC Track Athlete of the Week, Ashley Blackwell ran a season-best in the 200 meter event  at the Great Dane Classic with a time of 25.16 to place sixth overall. Her time clocks in as the fastest in the NEC to date this season. Toni Glatz ran a season-best 25.61 to place 12th in the event, her time ranks second in the NEC.

In the 400 meter event, Andeli Andre ran a personal best time of 58.16 to finish fourth overall. She currently sits third in the NEC in the event. 

Eugenie Hue ran a season-best time of 1:14.86 in the 500 meter event for the Blackbirds. Her ECAC qualifying time ranks as the fastest in the NEC. 

In the field events, Stephanie Esowengune placed seventh in the triple jump event with a jump of 11.66. Her mark currently leads the NEC in the event.

The Blackbirds are back at it next weekend in Staten Island for the Gotham Cup at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday, January 18.
