2019 LIU Brooklyn Women's Tennis Schedule

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn women's tennis team, under the direction of first year head coach Jan Griga, announced its 2019 schedule Tuesday afternoon. The Blackbirds, who already have one dual match win over Marist under their belts, open spring play Saturday, February 2, taking on local Northeast Conference rival St. Francis Brooklyn.
 
The Blackbirds will play a total of 19 dual matches in the spring, and look to improve on their program record 17-5 record from last season.
 
After opening NEC play, LIU will take on a number of local non-conference teams, including NJIT (Feb. 3), St. John's (Feb. 8), Seton Hall (Feb. 10), Hofstra (Feb. 17), Queens College (March 1), Columbia (March 9), Fordham (March 29) and Stony Brook (April 5). The Blackbirds will also make a swing through the Northeast, playing against Brown (Feb. 22), Bryant (Feb. 23) and UMass (Feb. 24), along with a late season match at Quinnipiac (March 31).
 
LIU will migrate south during spring break for two Florida dual matches, at Lynn and at Florida Atlantic, on March 13 and 14, before returning home to Brooklyn to host Villanova March 22. The Blackbirds end the season with a spree of NEC matches on the road, playing at Fairleigh Dickinson April 9, at Wagner April 12, and at Sacred Heart on April 13 to cap the regular season.
 
LIU will defend its two-straight Northeast Conference championship titles April 18-20, when the Blackbirds head to West Winsor, N.J. to take part in the 2019 NEC Championship tournament, being held at the Mercer County Tennis Center.
