2019 LIU Brooklyn Women's Lacrosse Schedule
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team, led by seventh year head coach Allison Hanley, revealed its 2019 spring schedule Thursday afternoon. The Blackbirds will play a 17 game slate, highlighted by a trip to San Diego and seven home games on LIU Field in downtown Brooklyn.
LIU opens the 2019 season Friday, February 8th, traveling to New Brunswick, New Jersey to take on a BIG12 opponent in Rutgers. The game is the first of a five game road swing for the Blackbirds, followed by a contest at La Salle in Philadelphia (Feb. 16), two trips to the Nutmeg State to take on Quinnipiac (Feb. 23) and Hartford (March 2), and a matchup against local rival Manhattan (Feb. 27).
The Blackbirds open up at home against Atlantic 10 foe Virginia Commonwealth, taking on the Rams on LIU Field, Tuesday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. That same week, LIU will host former NEC foe Monmouth, Saturday, March 9. The Blackbirds will migrate west for one game, traveling to California to take on San Diego State University, Saturday, March 16, before returning to downtown Brooklyn to host two final non-league contests. LIU will host Presbyterian, Friday, March 22, and the Patriot League's Lafayette, Tuesday, April 2nd.
Northeast Conference action begins for the Blackbirds on Friday, April 5, as LIU will travel north to take on Central Connecticut State, followed by Bryant, Sunday, April 7. The Blackbirds will host three straight league games at home, starting with Sacred Heart, Sunday, April 14. LIU will then host the Pennsylvania contingent of the NEC during Easter weekend, taking on Saint Francis U. (April 18) and Robert Morris (April 20), in the final two home games of the 2019 season. LIU will cap the season on the road, taking on Wagner on Friday, April 26, before heading south to face off against Mount St. Mary's in the regular season finale, Sunday, April 28.
The Northeast Conference tournament, hosted by the top seeds, will take place the first weekend in May.
