BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The LIU Brooklyn women's indoor track and field team was voted as the favorite to repeat as Northeast Conference Indoor Track & Field champions announced by the league office on Friday in its annual preseason Coaches' Poll.
LIU held off four-time champion, Sacred Heart a season ago by a three-point margin to bring the title to downtown Brooklyn. The Blackbirds received four first-place votes to sit atop the projected order of finish. CCSU collected three-first place votes to sit in second while Mount St. Mary's and Sacred Heart closed out the top-four with one first place vote each. Robert Morris, Saint Francis U, Fairleigh Dickinson, Bryant, Wagner and St. Francis Brooklyn closed out the poll.
The 2019 NEC Indoor Track & Field championship is scheduled for February 15 & 16, 2018 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island.
The Blackbirds resume action this afternoon with the Wagner College Invitational in Staten Island.
