Women's Lacrosse Wraps Up Road Swing At Manhattan, Hartford

  • The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team (0-3) scored a season-high eight goals Saturday afternoon, but it wasn't enough to beat Quinnipiac, as the Bobcats took the win, 14-8.
  • LIU was led by two goals apiece from junior Bianca Santucci and sophomore Elise Person.
  • Senior Carlie Robinson and sophomores Rachel Masullo and Amanda Masullo each added a goal of their own, while freshman Adriana Santucci scored her first goal of the season.
 
SCOUTING THE JASPERS
  • Manhattan is 1-1 in the early going this season, having opened up its season with a 10-7 loss to the University of Vermont, before making a comeback win against La Salle, 9-4.
  • Attackers Grace Lipponer and Molly Fitzpatrick lead Manhattan with four goals each.
  • Senior midfielder Caitlin Murphy is close behind with two goals and two assists.
  • Five other Jaspers have scored to get on the board this season so far.

SCOUTING THE HAWKS
  •  Hartford comes into the weekend 0-3 on the season, with losses to Army, CCSU and Boston University.
  •  Four players who all have three goals each lead the squad, which is only in its second season of existence. Senior attacker Billy McLaughlin leads the way with three goals and three assists, while Debbie Phillips, Megan Miller and Jessica Harrison each have three goals as well. Six other Hawks have scored at least one goal already this season.

The Blackbirds will return to downtown Brooklyn for their home opener next week, welcoming VCU to LIU Field, Tuesday, March 5 at 4 p.m., before hosting Monmouth, Saturday, March 9th.
