BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn women's tennis senior Anna Grigoryan added to her long list of accolades Thursday afternoon, when it was announced by the Northeast Conference office that she has been named the NEC Women's Tennis Player of the Month. It is the ninth such honor from the conference in her career, and the first this season.
The two-time defending NEC Player of the Year continued to pile up #1 singles win to begin her spring campaign. She posted a 5-3 mark, including wins over All-MAAC player Julia Gabay of Marist (6-3, 6-2) and Hofstra's Jasmine King (6-4, 6-1), and NEC victories against Bryant's Ada Boru (7-6 (2), 6-2) and St. Francis Brooklyn's Jean-Na Koo (6-3, 6-4). Grigoryan also registered a 4-3 mark at #1 doubles teaming with Ana Leonte.
Leonte was also recognized by the league as a prime performer. Leonte (Basel, Switzerland) won all three of her singles matches last month and went 4-3 at #1 doubles pairing with Grigoryan. She collected a #5 singles win against Anna Napadiy of UMass and a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Bryant's Leanne Kendall in #6 flight play.
