BROOKLYN, N.Y.— For the second consecutive week the LIU Brooklyn women's track & field team earned NEC Track Athlete and Field Athlete of The Week honors. Senior Eugenie Hue garnered her second straight Track Athlete of The Week honor and junior Taylor Parker earned her second Field Athlete of The Week mark.
The duo both earned event wins at the 2019 Metropolitan Indoor Championships this past Friday for the Blackbirds, setting new school records in the process.
Hue recorded a new-personal best and school record in the 500 meter event with a ECAC qualifying mark of 1:12.52. She bested the 21-year school record time of 1:13.20 set back in 1998 by Joi Brown. The senior currently ranks fifth among ECAC qualifiers in the event.
Parker set a new personal-best and school record on her final throw of the afternoon in the shot put event with a toss of 14.65 meters. She bested her previous school record and personal best of 14.40 meters set back in the winter of 2018. Parker currently paces the NEC in the shot put event.
LIU has one final tune up before NEC Championships this weekend with the BU David Hemery Valentine Meet up in Boston on Friday, February 8.
