BROOKLYN, N.Y. - For the second week in a row, LIU Brookyln women's tennis senior Anna Grigoryan has been named the Northeast Conference's Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Tuesday. It's the 11th time in her career she's earned a weekly or monthly honor, and the third time this season.
Grigoryan recorded a pair of quality victories at #1 singles as the defending NEC champs downed Fordham (4-3) and five-time defending MAAC champ Quinnipiac (4-0) last week. In claiming her second straight NEC Player of the Week honor, the Moscow native first posted a 6-4, 6-2 win on Friday over Fordham's Arina Taluyenko, who was a first team Sun Belt all-star before transferring to the Rams. The following afternoon she downed three-time All-MAAC performer Jennifer Lu of Quinnipiac, 7-5, 6-0. Grigoryan is now 9-6 in dual match play on the year.
Up next, the Blackbirds travel east to take on Stony Brook, Friday, April 5 at 5:30 p.m.
