DURHAM, N.C.— The LIU Brooklyn women's track & field team traveled down to North Carolina to compete at the Duke Invitational on Saturday. The Blackbirds registered five ECAC qualifying marks at the meet.
Junior Taylor Parker led the Blackbirds with a third place finish in the shot put event, besting her previous school record with a throw of 14.70 meters.
Senior Eugenie Hue registered a top-five finish in the 400-meter event. Her season-best and ECAC qualifying time 54.68 was good for fourth overall. Sophomore Tara Hernandez placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:02.30.
Senior Ashley Blackwell recorded a season-best and ECAC qualifying time of 12.04 in the 100-meter dash. She finished 14th in the competitive field and also finished 14th in the 200-meter event with a time of 24.87.
The Blackbirds 4x100 relay team consisting of Blackwell, junior Angeli Andre and sophomores Toni Glatz and Michaela Neils placed 15th with a ECAC mark of 48.04.
LIU is back on the track Thursday, April 25 for the 125th running of The Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania.
