BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team had three members of the squad honored by the Northeast Conference, it was announced at the annual banquet Wednesday evening. Sophomore Amanda Masullo earned first team All-NEC honors as a midfielder, while sophomore Rachel Masullo was named second team All-NEC as an attacker, and freshman Isabelle Peng was voted on to the league's All-Rookie Team. It was the most honorees for the program since 2015.
Amanda Masullo earned NEC honors for the second straight season, as she was a second team and All-Rookie honoree last year. She finished the year leading LIU and the NEC in points (74) and points per game (4.29), and in the top ten in goals (52), assists (21) and draw controls (74). Her 52 goals ranked her third in the league and 33rd in the nation. She was also second on the team with 35 ground balls, and had 17 caused turnovers.
Rachel Masullo earned a second team nod just one season after earning All-Rookie honors. She finished the year ranked in the top ten in the NEC in points, with 43 goals and 15 assists. She was also second on the team with 71 draw controls. And her 52.3 shot percentage ranked her third in the confernece and 46th in the nation.
Freshman
Isabelle Peng earned the first postseason nods of her career, as she was named to the All-Rookie team by the league's coaches. As a midfielder, she finished with 11 goals and one assist on the season, and led the team with 18 caused turnovers. She also finished the year with 33 ground balls (fourth on the team), and 11 draw controls.
The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team finished the 2019 season with a 6-11 overall record, one shy of tying the program record for wins.
