SMITHFIELD, R.I.— The LIU Brooklyn dropped a Saturday afternoon matchup to the league leading Bryant Bulldogs, 18-3 at Conaty Park.
The Blackbirds recorded double digit hits for the third straight game and for the 16th time this season with 10 hits on the day. Senior
Edward Modica Jr. paced the lineup with a season-high three hits and senior
Alex Briggs along with junior
Rob Griswold added a pair of hits. LIU stranded 13 runners on base in the contest.
Defensive miscues plagued the Blackbirds early, committing four errors in the first two innings that allowed the Bulldogs to jump to an 11-0 lead.
LIU got on the board in the top of the first as senior
Brock Hallum recorded a RBI fielder's choice with the bases loaded.
The scoring settled for the next several innings before the Bulldogs plated a run in the bottom half of the fifth on a sacrifice fly. The Blackbirds responded in the next half inning on a one-out single down the right field line by Modica.
Bryant followed that up with four runs on four hits in the bottom half of the sixth inning to add to its lead.
LIU recorded its final run of the afternoon on a RBI single to left field by Griswold in the top of the seventh inning. The Bulldogs scored in each of the final two innings to cap the scoring.

Alec Huertas suffered the loss for the Blackbirds in the start. The right hander surrendered zero earned runs in two innings of work. Freshman

Anthony Rupp made appearances out of the bullpen for LIU.
