Women's Lacrosse Travels to Wagner, Mount St. Mary's

The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team closes out its regular-season road slate this weekend, starting with Wagner Friday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m. On Sunday, April 19, the Blackbirds head to Mount St. Mary's for a 12:00 p.m. matchup.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Blackbirds suffered their first Northeast Conference loss of the season on Sunday, falling to Bryant, 16-12. Sophomore Jenn Peters and freshman Sierra O'Connor each netted a hat trick, while junior Alexis Maldonado made 12 saves in the cage.
 
ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS
LIU Brooklyn is currently tied with Mount St. Mary's for third in the NEC standings with a 2-1 record. In conference matches, the Blackbirds are fifth with 10.67 goals per game and 13.67 points per game. The Blackbirds also boast the second best shot percentage at 0.533 and save percentage at 11.33 per game.
 
Nationally, Peters still ranks second with 4.77 goals per game and 5.08 points per game.
 
ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS
Wagner is 3-0 in NEC play and atop the standings with Bryant. Through their three conferences games, the Seahawks average 15.67 goals per game and 22.33 points per game, the best in the league. They also lead in draw controls, but have the most fouls of any team with 42.00 per game. Shea Gegan is the national leader in caused turnovers and ground balls, and the NEC leader in points per game at 4.33.

Wagner leads the series 9-3. The Blackbirds' last victory against the Seahawks came in 2012.
 
ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS
Mount St. Mary's also has a 2-1 record on the season, with the lone loss coming to Wagner on April 3. The Mount has averaged 11.33 goals per game in conference matches and 4.67 assists. They also have the best shot percentage at 0.540. Nicole Lanuth leads the Mountaineers with seven goals in NEC play, for 2.33 per game.
