Women's Lacrosse Concludes Regular Season With Two Home Games

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team concludes its 2015 regular-season schedule this season with a pair of home matches. The Blackbirds face Saint Francis U. on Friday, April 24 at 4:00 p.m. before hosting Robert Morris on senior day on Sunday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT
LIU Brooklyn fell to 2-3 in NEC play with a loss to Mount St. Mary's on Sunday. Sophomore attacker Jenn Peters had two goals, while sophomore Mary McQueen added one goal and one assist.

ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS
LIU is currently tied with Robert Morris for fourth place in the Northeast Conference. With the top three spots clinched, the Blackbirds, Colonials, as well as Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart are all in contention, but two wins this weekend would send LIU to its first NEC tournament in program history.

In conference games, the Blackbirds are fifth in goals per game at 9.60, and lead the conference in shot percentage at .0.490. They are also second in saves per game at 11.00. Peters is third in conference statistics in scoring with 3.20 goals per game, but leads through all matches with 4.00 goals per game.

ABOUT THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis U. is winless this conference season, and 3-10 overall. The Red Flash rank seventh in goals per game in conference games with 8.80, and are also seventh in draw controls per game and shot percentage. Holly Lawrence and Rebecca Meyer each have 22 goals this season, while goalkeeper Heather McKee averages 14.35 goals against.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Blackbirds lead the series 8-4, last winning in 2011. Last season, LIU fell by one goal in the second overtime period.

ABOUT THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris is 9-5 overall, but lost three straight conference matches after opening NEC play with a win against the Red Flash. The Colonials rank just ahead of the Blackbirds in goals per game in conference play with 11.40, and are second with 21.00 ground balls per game. Brittany Byerly has 2.40 goals per game in NEC play, good for sixth in the conference, while goalkeeper Hallie Yancey lets in 12.80 goals per game.

ALL-TIME SERIES
LIU has won three matches against the Colonials, but have not defeated them since 2007. 

NORTHEAST CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT
The Northeast Conference tournament is held at the site of the highest seed. Semifinal matches will take place Friday, May 1 and the championship will be held Sunday, May 3.
