FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team begins play in the 2016 Northeast Conference Tournament on Wednesday evening at Sacred Heart. The Blackbirds are the No. 6 seed in the eight-team tournament that will culminate in the NEC title game  on Tuesday, March 8. The game will be televised locally on MSG Network, nationally on Fox College Sports and will be available over the internet on NEC Front Row. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

QUICK HITTERS
•LIU enters Wednesday having averaged 81.9 points per game through a month of February that produced a 5-3 record including wins over top-seeded Wagner, fourth-seeded St. Francis Brooklyn and fifth-seeded Mount St. Mary's.
•The dynamic duo of junior Jerome Frink and sophomore Martin Hermannsson have led the way throughout the season and each earned a spot on the All-NEC First Team.
•Frink has 10 double-doubles on the season, including 23 points and 11 rebounds in the season finale against Bryant. The junior transfer has scored 20 or more points nine times.
•Hermannsson reached 20 points for the eighth time this season and scored 17 or more for the 10th straight game against Bryant, adding nine rebounds and eight assists without turning the ball over.
•Juniors Joel Hernandez and Aakim Saintil added 14 and 11 points, respectively, in the loss to the Bulldogs.
•The Blackbirds struggled with its shooting, connecting on just 27.3 percent of their three-point field goal attempts and 37.0 percent overall.
•Sacred Heart is the No. 3 seed in the Northeast Conference Tournament after closing with an 11-7 record in league play.
•Sophomore Cane Broome was named NEC Player of the Year on Tuesday after averaging 22.7 points per game for the Pioneers through the regular season.
