FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team has headed north for the weekend to continue a three-game Northeast Conference road trip by taking on Sacred Heart in the Pitt Center, Thursday, January 26 at 7 p.m.

  • The LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team saw their six-game Northeast Conference win streak come to an end Saturday afternoon at Stratis Arena, as the Blackbirds fell to Fairleigh Dickinson, 83-66. The Knights, who improved to 7-1 in NEC play with the win, went 27-of-50 from the field (54 percent), forced 18 LIU turnovers, including nine steals, and held the Blackbirds to a 33.3 field goal percentage.With the loss, LIU moved to 13-8 overall, 6-2 in the NEC, and to third place in the conference standings.
  • The Blackbirds were led by senior Jerome Frink, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Jashaun Agosto added 11 points and three assists, as the only other Blackbird in double figures. Junior Nura Zanna had eight points and four rebounds, while freshman Julian Batts added seven points, and Julius van Sauers had six.
  • Sacred Heart comes into the weekend with an 8-13 rebound, 3-5 in NEC action. Two weeks ago, the Pioneers had a huge win, beating Bryant in a triple overtime thriller, 112-110, but have lost to Mount St. Mary's (86-75) and Wagner (67-62) at home since then.
  • SHU is led by sophomore guard Quincy McKnight, the second leading scorer in the NEC, averaing 19.7 points per game. He is also fifth in the NEC in steals, just ahead of LIU's Iverson Fleming, with a 1.57 steals per game average.
  • Junior forward Joseph Lopez is the only other Pioneer averaging double figures, as he puts up 13.2 points per game shooting 59 percent from the field. Lopez ranks third in the conference with 8.8 rebounds per game, and also ranks fifth in the NEC with 1.14 blocks per game, just ahead of Jerome Frink.
  • Junior Charles Tucker Jr. also ranks in the league, coming in second in the conference in assists per game, dishing out 4.43.
  • Up next, the Blackbirds wrap up the Connecticut trip, heading to take on Central Connecticut State, Saturday, January 28 in New Britain.
