Women's Track & Field | May 06 | Parker's Silver Medal Leads Women's Track on Day One of NECs Story Links Day 1 Results NEC Championship Homepage EMMITSBURG, Md. --- The LIU Brooklyn women's track team ended the first day of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Outdoor Championship with 12 points, placing the Blackbirds into eighth place in the conference field. LIU's total came from three events - two individuals in field competition and one relay team on the track: Freshman Taylor Parker posted the highest individual score for the Blackbirds with a runner-up finish in the shot put (42-10.00 / 13.05m; 8 PTS). Senior Teena Mobley logged LIU's other points in the field after placing sixth in the long jump (16-11.50 / 5.17m; 3 PTS). The team's final point was awarded to the 4x800 meter relay group of junior Esther Jean-Louis, Zaahira Deboise, Adjovi Simpini and Nerene Aberdeen after landing in eighth place with a time of 10:32.80. In addition to the athletes scoring, three Blackbirds combined to secure seven spots in five different Sunday races: Sophomore Shantae McDonald will be competing in three different events after finishing second in the 100 meter hurdles (14.54), third in the 100 meters (12.56) and fourth in the 200 meters (25.36). Senior Cassandra Jones and sophomore Deja Johnson each advanced in a pair of events on Saturday. Jones ran the best time in the 200 meters (24.77) and the third-best time in the 400 meters (57.89). Johnson hurdled her way to seventh place in both the 100 meter (15.38) and 400 meter (1:05.89) races. Day two of NEC Championship meet action begins with field events at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
