Women's Track & Field | Jan 14 | Track Stands Out At Great Dane Classic Story Links Results STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. --- This weekend's UAlbany Great Dane Classic, held at the Ocean Breeze Complex, saw a number of stellar performances from the LIU Brooklyn men's and women's track programs. MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS Junior Ernest Agyeman had the top performance of the day for the Blackbird men, finishing fourth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.84 that ties the current NEC-leading mark from Mount St. Mary's Justin Kimble. His mark was also a personal best, ECAC qualifier, and the top time by a collegian in the event. Sophomore Braylon Wilkerson led four Blackbirds in the top-15 of the 400 meters, running a 5th-place time of 48.80. Joining Wilkerson were junior Deshawne Bunion (6th; 48.90), freshman Justin Brown (13th; 49.48), and junior Logan Jones (14th; 49.51). Each time qualify the Blackbirds for IC4As and sit within the top-five on the NEC list. Junior Roderick Moodie finished sixth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.05, good enough for second in the league. Jones set a personal best in the 500 meters, running a 1:05.85 and sits third in the NEC. WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS Sophomore Taylor Parker shined in the shot put, winning the event with a toss of 47-3.00 (14.40m). The performance was a personal best, an LIU school record, an ECAC qualifier, and the second best current mark in the NEC. Sophomore Angeli Andre gave the Blackbirds their second top-five performance with a fifth place high jump leap of 5-5.00 (1.65m), matching her NEC-leading mark from the Wagner Invitational on January 5. Sophomore Stephanie Esogenwune finished in the top-10 of the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying and NEC-leading jump of 38-4.75 (11.70m) that took seventh overall at the meet. Junior Shantae McDonald ended the day with two top-15 marks on the track, finishing 11th in the 60 meter hurdles (8.81) and 14th in the 400 meters (58.10). The 60 hurdle time was an ECAC qualifier and currently leads the NEC while her 400 time was a personal best and ranks second in the league. Junior Cayla Coleman's 12th-place time in the 500 meters (1:18.33) was about a second off the 1:17:09 she ran at the Fastrack Metro Season Opener that currently sits as the second-fastest time in the NEC.
