BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team will travel across the Hudson River Saturday afternoon to take on local rival Saint Peter's University, December 9 at 1 p.m. The Blackbirds (4-4) and the Peacocks (2-6) will battle at the Yanitelli Sports Center in Jersey City, N.J., in the third MAAC meeting for LIU this season.

- The Blackbirds have lost three of their last four games, and will be looking for a win before they take on another tough local rival next week in Stony Brook (8-1).
- LIU went 1-1 at the Belfast Classic, beating Albany, but falling to Marist in the championship game, 70-53. Marist, SPU and Fairfield all play in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Sunday's game will mark the last MAAC team for the Blackbirds this season.
- Senior Raiquan Clark was named to the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic's All-Tournament team for his play. Clark had 27 points and seven rebounds in LIU's win over Albany in the semifinal round.
- Saint Peter's is coming off a tough stretch, with five of their last six games on the road, including at two ACC schools and a top-10 SEC school. The Peacocks most recently battled with Clemson, and nearly beat the Tigers at home, 65-60.
- SPU holds the 22-14 all-time series advantage against LIU, including a 71-56 win last year in the Barclays Center. The home team has won seven of the last eight meetings, with last year's loss in Brooklyn the lone outlier.
- The Peacocks are led by senior guard Davauhnte Turner's 16.3 points per game, while senior forward Samuel Idowu (12.8 ppg) and junior Cameron Jones (10.1 pgg) are also averaging double digits.
