BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team will host its final two games of the regular season on LIU Field this weekend. The Blackbirds will take on Saint Francis U., Thursday, April 18 at 4 p.m., before their last game in the Bird Cage ever, hosting Robert Morris, Saturday, April 20 at 11 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Blackbirds had one of their biggest Northeast Conference wins in recent years at home last Sunday, when LIU beat Sacred Heart, 16-15 in overtime. It was just the second time in program history that the Blackbirds have beaten the Pioneers.  Sophomore Elise Person scored the game-winning goal just 97 seconds into the overtime period.

Rachel Masullo led the Blackbirds in the win, with five goals and three assists, along with nine draw controls. Sophomore Amanda Masullo added five goals and one assist, while Bianca Santucci, Person and Kaylee Riggins all had two goals apiece. Riggins also had eight draw controls and two ground balls for the Blackbirds. In the net, senior Virginia Gibbons and sophomore Sam Kidd each had five saves in net, with Gibbons getting the win on Senior Day.

SCOUTING THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis U., perennially a strong NEC lacrosse team, has been struggling as of late. The Red Flash are 3-8 this season, including an 0-3 record in conference play. But they've played two of the top three teams, and dropped a tough loss to inter-state rival Robert Morris last weekend.  SFU fell to both Mount (15-8) and Wagner (17-5) in the opening weekend of NEC action. The Mountaineers and the Seahawks are the two remaining unbeaten teams in the league, at 3-0 each. With just four games left in the regular season, both teams are playing with their backs against the wall; both LIU and SFU need wins to keep their playoff hopes alive.

SFU has two top attackers: Morgan Day and Emileigh Scott, who have combined for 47 goals so far this season.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris enters Saturday's game with an 8-4 overall record, and 1-2 in the NEC. Like SFU, they took on the two top teams in the opening weekend, falling to Wagner (17-7) and Mount St. Mary's (14-3), but came out on top of SFU this past weekend, 18-5.

Saturday's game will be a twin matchup for the books, as Robert Morris' top two scorers are twin sisters Melanie and Mackenzie Gandy. The Gandys have combined for 49 goals so far this season, and 37 assists. The Blackbirds' twin duo of Amanda and Rachel Masullo has combined for 76 goals so far this season, along with 26 assists.

UP NEXT
LIU wraps up the regular season on the road, taking on two of the toughest teams in the league. The Blackbirds will head to Staten Island to take on Wagner, Friday, April 26 at 4 p.m., before facing off against Mount St. Mary's on the road, Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m.
