2018: Earned NEC All-Rookie honors in his first season… Named to the NEC’s Fall Academic Honor Roll… Played in all 20 games for the Blackbirds, with 19 starts and over 1,700 minutes played… Anchored a stout LIU defense that surrendered just seven goals in conference play en-route to the NEC regular season crow, and recorded six shutouts… Had his first collegiate goal in LIU’s 2-1 win over St. Francis Brooklyn… Had the game-winning goal in LIU’s 2-1 defeat of Mount St. Mary’s… also had an assist against Sacred Heart.
Background: Played club soccer for BVC, helping them to championships in four out of the past five years… Played as high as the fifth tier in Holland.
Personal: Son of Harold and Babs Achterkamp… Has one sibling, Tessa… Plans to major in political science.
