Northeast Conference Release and Complete List
Brooklyn, N.Y. – Long Island University had a total of 27 student-athletes representing five teams named to the Northeast Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll it was announced by the league offices. A total of 499 student-athletes were honored by the NEC for posting a 3.20 or better grade point average. Additionally, a total of 116 student-athletes were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, which honors those with a 3.75 or better GPA, The league also named a Scholar-Athlete award winner in each of six winter sports. The total number or honorees represented a 30 percent increase from last season.
To be a member of the NEC Honor Roll, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 or better GPA and complete at least one year in residence at an NEC institution. All scholar-athlete award winners must have earned a minimum of 60 semester hours, maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 and participated with distinction as a member of a varsity team.
Senior Amy Johnson of the women's bowling team and sophomore Desiree Conley of the women's indoor track and field team represented LIU on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Long Island athletes from five winter sports garnered spots on the honor roll: men's and women's indoor track and field, men's and women's basketball and women's bowling.
Senior Jorden Davis and junior Anna Hoffman of Saint Francis (Pa.) were named the men's and women's indoor track and field scholar-athletes, respectively. Sacred Heart's Joey Henley, a graduate student, was honored in men's basketball, while senior Jennifer Bender of Monmouth earned the women's basketball award. Junior Alexandra Stein of St. Francis (N.Y.) was the women's bowling honoree and junior Jessica Hart of Wagner was the women's swimming scholar-athlete.
