MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA - The LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team will wrap up the 2017 Jamaica Classic this week, taking part in two games over two days in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The Blackbirds will take on Miami (Ohio), Friday, November 17 at 8:30 p.m., and Hartford on Saturday, November 18 at 6 p.m. Both of LIU's games in the inaugural tournament will take place at the SMG/Montego Bay Convention Centre and air on CBS Sports Network.

- It was an optimistic start to the 2017-18 season in the Steinberg Wellness Center, as the Blackbirds earned their first win of the Coach Derek Kellogg era, beating the College of New Rochelle, 104-68 Monday night.
- LIU had five different players score in double figures, and ten different players get on the board.

- Sophomores Jashaun Agosto and Julian Batts both had strong stat lines for LIU. Agosto finished with 16 points, three assists and three rebounds, while Batts had 11 points, four steals, three rebounds and three assists.
- Junior Raiquan Clark finished with 17 points, six rebounds, and a team-high five assists, a new career high. Fifth year Jamall Robinson also led the team with five assists, along with six points, while junior Raul Frias added eight points.
- LIU outrebounded CNR 56-38, and had a season-high 22 assists as a team.
- Miami enters Friday's contest with a 2-0 overall record, having beaten Fordham (55-54) and Wright State (73-67 OT) so far this season.
- The Red Hawks average 64.0 points per game as a team, and have two players averaging in double figures. Jalen Adaway is the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.5 points per game along with 8.0 rebounds per game, while Nike Siande added 10.0 points per contest. Logan McLane is the top rebounder, pulling down 9.5 boards per game, along with 7.0 points.
- Hartford enters Saturday's game with a 2-1 record, having beaten CCSU (85-84) and Cordon (80-63), while losing to Rider (89-53).
- The Hawks are led by John Carroll's 19.3 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game. Travis Weatherington adds 12.5 point per game, and Jason Dunne chips in 10.7 points per contest.
- Other teams at this week's event include Tulane, Fordham, Florida State and Colorado State.
