Lacrosse Hosts RMU, SFU for Final Home Weekend

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team will host the Pennsylvania contingent of the Northeast Conference this weekend, for their final two games of the regular season. The Blackbirds take on Robert Morris, Friday, April 28 at 4 p.m., before hosting Saint Francis U., Sunday, April 30 at 11 a.m.

Prior to Sunday's game, LIU will honor the seven graduation members of the team: Jenna Lasaponara, Jillian May, Mary McQueen, Jenn Peters, Kayal Riley, Mackenzie Rolland and Tori Shinkowitz.

SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
Robert Morris enters Friday's game with a 4-1 record in NEC games, and a 10-5 overall record.  The Colonials rank second in the standings, with their only loss coming against Bryant last weekend, 15-13. Prior to the loss against the Bulldogs, RMU had won seven straight games.

RMU leads the league in goals per game (12.80) ground balls per game (24.40) and caused turnovers per game (15.13). The Colonials' newest weapon is freshman midfielder Annie Sachs, who is the top point scorer in the conference. She leads RMU with 43 goals and 21 assists, ranking third in the NEC in both categories.

SCOUTING THE RED FLASH
Saint Francis enters the weekend at 1-4 in the NEC, and 6-8 overall, having lost the last four straight. SFU's only NEC win came over Wagner (10-9), before the Red Flash dropped games to Mount (12-9), Robert Morris (22-13), Bryant (16-6), and most recently, CCSU (18-13). SFU will take on Sacred Heart Friday, before coming to LIU Field for Sunday's contest.

Despite their record, SFU has one of the better attacks in the conference, ranking second as a team in the NEC in goals per game (12.50), and are the top team in the league in shot percentage (.458). Two upperclassmen lead the attack: senior Holly Lawrence has 42 goals this season, while junior Sarah Mahon ranks second on the team with 37 goals so far.
