BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The LIU Brooklyn softball team (29-15) will head over to play Rutgers (25-22) on Wednesday at the RU Softball Complex. It's the Blackbirds final non-conference game of the season, with four NEC games on tap this weekend, just prior to the NEC Championships.

Scouting report: Senior infielder Jess Hughes leads RU in batting at .357 with 41 runs scored. Freshman catcher Kate Wingert also tops the team with 15 home runs and 40 runs batted in. Freshman Corah Price leads the Knights in the circle with a 14-8 record and a 2.82 earned run average and 100 strikeouts on the season.
NEC ACTION FINISHES UP
The Blackbirds will return home for two NEC doubleheader on Friday (CCSU) and Saturday (Bryant) to close out the regular season, with both matchups scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
